Community Garden – Interested?

The New Dundee Board of Trade is considering initiating a community garden for residents of New Dundee.

Before we turn sod, we’re looking to measure interest in the community.

If you’re interested in participating in a community garden either by renting a plot (at a nominal fee) or helping us set up/maintain this, we need to hear from you! Please reach out to Glenn Cooke, by email at webmaster@newdundee.ca, or by phone at 519.696.2327.

Pinehill Farms

The New Dundee Board of Trade’s April dinner meeting’s speaker was Rob Musselman from Pinehill Farms.

Pinehill farms is a young and growing u-pick and pre-picked strawberry farm. Started in 2015, they’ve grown from a half acre of berries to 5 acres for this year.

Located just outside of New Dundee at the north corner of Pinehill and Huron, they’re local and fresh.

Possible changes to community center kitchen

The township has been reviewing potential changes to the kitchen in the community center. The township is seeking to standardize the various community centers across Wilmot. In addition some of the equipment (grill, dishwasher) are old enough that in addition to being prone to failure, they are becoming increasingly expensive to repair.

You can download a summary of the kitchen review by clicking here.

In addition, we understand that new ceiling tiles for the community center have arrived and are waiting to be installed.

Chairs in the community center are scheduled for cleaning 3rd quarter of this year.

Repairs/replacement of the damaged round tables is expected in 2020-2021.

Where does the Lone Ranger take his garbage?

To the dump, to the dump, to the dump dump dump.

With that out of the way, the Waterloo Regional Landfill site is hosting a tour for residents.

The guided tour takes you to the Nyle Ludolph Material Recycling Centre, our one-and-only landfill and so much more!

Participants learn how their everyday actions, including green binning and recycling, make a difference.

Get on the various trucks and heavy equipment; ask staff questions; discover what takes place at the landfill.  These tours book up fast so please call early.

Next public tour: Saturday, April 27, 2019

Tours are given every half hour. Registration required. Call the 24/7 Customer Service Call Centre at 519-575-4400 to find out tour times and to register.
